Dear Ambassador David Shea

We received information from the following reporter: Thanh Quang, RFA reporter, 2011-09-28

Please help Mr. Nguyen Huu Cau so that he may return home to get the medical attention he needs to get well, he is very ill right now, below is the article from the reporter:

In recent times, more and more prisoners left the prison itself, from the prison in defiance Truong Van Suong Ba Sao, Nam Ha to political prisoner Nguyen Van Trai at the detention camp Z30A, Xuan Loc , Dong Nai.

Prisoner Nguyen Huu Cau has become one of them as well.
Death is a fear for the fate of a prisoner in Mr. Nguyen Huu Cau, Xuan Loc prison. Thanh Quang learned about the circumstances of Mr. Nguyen Huu Cau in the hours as follows:
Over 30 years of silent suffering

Nguyen Huu Cau life from death sentence was reduced to life imprisonment for more than 29 years, plus five years of forced-called “reform” before, the former political prisoner Nguyen Bac Truyen Communications. One of eight U.S. democracy groups has been Hellman / Hammett’s Human Rights Organization Human Rights Watch, and they have expressed concerns as follows:

Nguyen Bac Truyen: Before the death of another prisoner like Truong Van Suong, Nguyen Huu Cau’s situation currently looks no brighter. And as I know, this world, he was detained the longest. The daughter of Mr. Nguyen Huu Cau, Nguyen Thi Anh Thu, said the family is also suffering.Ms Anh Thu was quoted as saying: I have long been sad, not only now. Now in tears but tears do not flow out again. What to do, I have done it, but did not find the answer. Overall I am very much disappointed.

His son Nguyen Huu Cau, but took their stepfather after the incident 30 April 1975, Tran Ngoc Bich, is not without pity:

He was quoted as saying: Now, My Father is very weak and sick. Because My Father was detained in the end that no person was allowed to contact him, talking to My Father who is sad, and very sick and now my father has many diseases. We do not want a second Truong Van Suong to happen.

The downfall of the prisoner Nguyen Huu Cau and his health is also a persistent concern of his daughter:

Anh Thu: Visited him this period, I saw my grandmother got sick, due to blood in the brain as dizziness, gray ground, falling skeptical. She notes that some parties have sent medicine.

From about seven months, it was said that Nguyen Huu Cau could be moved deeper into the camp 6 km from K2 to K3 classification of Xuan Loc prison – in solitary confinement status. The question raised in the K2 was harsh solitary confinement in K3 now, what does it do for prisoners like Nguyen Huu Cau? Nguyen Thi Anh Thu:

I’m sad to see that Dad will spend more hours in the K2. Now Dad is in K2, when I visited and saw my father he did not talk much anymore, and he did not want to say anymore.

She was quoted as saying that she just wants her father home. Every morning dad put out flowers, and grew vegetables in the garden. My father called for three flower varieties. Former political prisoner Nguyen Bac Truyen is worried about the situation now in prison Nguyen Huu Cau, and hope he will be freed soonNguyen Bac Truyen: Anh Nguyen Huu Cau are currently being held separately. Demand for the story is that he is locked up normally. Because of his protests about prison policy as well as the problems related to his case, he was detained separately Anh Nguyen Huu Cau has written nearly 500 petitions but they have not been considered. Now for the family, how are they to afford a lawyer, to have access to Mr. Nguyen Huu Cau while he is in prison.

So recently, a complaint letter was sent to the bridge to his requests for reconsideration of the case, the Supreme Court has requested additional family court of first instance and appellate writing his bridge. These bridge projects were written, while he was in jail. But the prison did not help him move the second copy of this written plan to the Supreme Court.

The only way is to hire a lawyer to approach him in prison. As well as having a copy of documents

There have been many funerals in the labor camp in Nam Ha Province, North Vietnam’s Truong Van Suong was detained for more than 30 years. The family offered the court of first instance Kien Giang and appellate courts in Saigon for what policies would be reviewed.

On this occasion, Nguyen Thi Anh thanked benefactors around each for trying to save her father.

Anh Thu was also quoted as saying I do not know what else to say. But I do not need anything more.

Tran Ngoc Bich also worried about the fate of his father when the last captivity of prisoners of other centuries had bad results like, Mr. Truong Van Suong:

Ngoc Bich: The situation of the past policy of Truong Van Suong which had him dying in prison shows the plight of three children.

Harsh scenes are doomed to come into contact with the prisoner’s long defiance Nguyen Huu Cau now continues to be living in uncertainty and the understanding of public opinion is needed, especially after the departure of the new permanent prisoner Truong Van Suong Nguyen Van Trai while working within reason – the situation stems from actions allegedly is arbitrary, and indifferent to the rulers of Vietnam.
